When some people leave for a vacation, they might forget different things at home. Wonder why? The answer is easy – not a good enough planning will lead to forgetting or misplacing some items that they need during their traveling. However, that’s why we’re here for – to help you make your bags easier for a new destination.
The List
Everyone has heard of this famous list (one of our favorites here), but just a few people use it when they make their bags. It’s extremely simple to do this and it will prove to be a tremendous help during the preparation period. The list should be started with a week in advance before actually leaving and it should contain all the things that you will need. For example, write down the items of toiletry, special medication that you need to take with you, hairdryer, sunglasses, iron, special clothing item and everything else. Make separate columns for similar items and leave the list open.
The Papers
Traveling abroad usually requires special papers – the plane tickets, the proof of booking a room, passport or valid ID card and so on. If you have medical restrictions, make sure you have your papers with you. Make sure you gather all the papers before you leave and put them somewhere close at hand.
The Actual Packing
When you start the actual packing, take the list with you and gather the items from there. If you remember that you also need something else, get it. Every time you get an item, check it on the list to know what else you have to get. It’s a very easy way to keep track of everything that you need to take with you.
However, you will need to pay attention to one thing – if you travel by plane, the flight agencies have a limited number of kilos that you can carry in your bags. Because of this, make sure you know exactly how heavy your bags can be. Check the website of the flying company and see their limits, and take a scale when you pack your bags. Weigh everything when you’re done. If the weight is bigger, check and see which items you can leave at home. If you don’t need too many t-shirts or jeans, instead of those, you can take the items that you really need.
Leaving
When it’s the day for leaving, check everything again just to be sure you don’t forget something at home. Double check the list and see if there’s an item that’s missing and if you can fit it in the bags. Don’t forget the papers and the money, along with the flight tickets (if you go by plane). Checking everything twice will allow you to have a stress-free vacation. One little tip that will soothe your anxiety. Take a picture of the stove before you leave. You will KNOW that you turned it off without second guessing.
